If you are the owner or occupier of a non-domestic building in the UK, you have a legal obligation to protect your staff, visitors and property from fire. If you have not appointed a responsible person for your fire safety requirements, this will become you by default and could be punishable by law if discovered this is not being performed to a satisfactory standard.
All obligations are part of the National Fire legislation. This includes making a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment and keeping it up to date. Obligations also include providing appropriate fire fighting equipment such as fire extinguishers, fire detectors, alarms, illuminated emergency exits that all provisions are maintained to ensure efficient working order.
Under BS-5839 you must test the fire alarm call point every week.
Let us take this task away from you so that you can concentrate on what’s important to your business. An engineer will visit your premises each week to test your fire alarm and emergency lighting on your behalf and record all visits in our online logbook.
